The Best Management Practice project is based on the idea that solutions to the ongoing farm crisis exists among “leading farmers”. These leading farmers are fundamentally good managers, market focused and excel in their management. They appear to make sustain and maximize profitability through securing new and emerging markets, moving up the value-chain and adapt their operation to meet consumer trends. The key question is “What do these top farmers have in common?”

A three part presentation further the understanding of the Best Practices approach. These parts are:
-driving trends
-Best Practice concept
-some industry examples.

The Canadian Pork Council (CPC) undertook a strategic review designed to improve the governance and in turn, the capacity of the organization to provide leadership in the advancement of the Canadian pork industry. To this end, the Strategic Review Steering Committee undertook an extensive consultation and review process. In addition, a number of relevant organizational models and industry structures were reviewed. The process has resulted in the development of a specific set of recommendations for this purpose.
